Is Flying Safe While Suffering From A Swollen Lymph Node?
Hi, my little boy is 3 1/2 years old. Today I noticed his gland on the left side of his neck was swollen. He wasn t himself and a little whingey so I took his temp. It was 38.4 so I have given him some paracetamol. It came down to 36.4, he perked up a bit but temp was on its way back up after 2 hours, his temp is back up at 38. We are due to fly to Spain in less than 48 hours, my question is would it be safe for him to fly with a swollen gland? Thank you Charmaine

General & Family Physician, Dr. Vasudha's Response
Hi, Thanks for the query. Swollen gland in neck indicates some infection focus in his head, mouth ot face region. Please take the child to his doctor.. for examination to find causative infection ..followed by suitable antibiotic, anti inflammatory medicine . This would mostly control his fever before you start your journey...which would be safe enough. Thanks.
