Is Ice Cold Bath Advisable For A Child With High Temperature?
My friend s Son has a 104 fever. Motrin is not helping. Instead of taking him to the Doctor she has been asking for advice on Facebook. People are telling her to put her Son in an ice cold bath. I wanted to shout, NO, don t do this, just take him to the Doctor so loud she could hear me through the computer, but then thought I should ask for an expert opinion before contradicting 10 of her Facebook friends. My email address
If high grade fever (104) is not subsiding with motrin (ibuprofen) then he must be taken to the hospital for further evaluation and treatment.
There is no point in giving ice cold bath or doing so may cause further rise in temperature. So, if your friend want to give some home remedy then advise him to give tepid sponging with normal water but not with cold or ice pack.
Still,it would be be to take him to the pediatrician for routine blood works to rule out any chances of infection.
Never take advise from Facebook friends since they are not medical personnel.
