Is Irritation On A Patch Of Skin On Knee A Cause Of Concern?

I have an irritation on a patch of skin, about the size of my hand, on the front and side of my right knee. There is no visible abrasion but the mild pain has persisted for almost two weeks and seems to be getting a bit worse. It used to only bother me when I'd put pressure on it (on my knees playing with the kids on the floor, for example) but now it's a constant. Could this be something to be worried about? (38 yo male, 210lbs, no major health concerns).
