I am in pediatric occupational therapist. I have a client, bilateral amputee of 4th and 5th digits, some at PIP, DIP, and MCP. I think calcification has set in his joints on RUE, 3rd and 2nd digit. Doc wants me to continue to do "agressive PROM and AROM." Client does self ROM all the time as well. I am not a hand therapist and I just don't see how ROM is going to break down calcification?????
Since I don't work in a hand clinic, I don't really have access to many modalities execpt parafin. Is that helpful for calcification? Any other ideas???
Thanks,
kj
