Dear Ask The Doctor: Yesterday at work I made myself vomit in panic after I read somewhere that taking adderall (20mg) and IBUprofen (400mg) can be very dangerous. Little did I know at the time, self-induced vomit is even more dangerous. It was probably the stupidest thing I have ever done, although I was not thinking very clearly at the time. 24hr later, my throat still feels sore and somewhat swollen. I feel like there is a small lump in my throat behind my tongue approaching the larynx. It doesn't hurt when I swallow, but does when I pronounce certain words that require use of muscles in that region. Also, my chest feels somewhat shallow as if there is slight pressure applied. (although I am somewhat anxious, so that may be the reason). Should I wait a little longer and see if the pain diminishes or should I check myself in? I don't have a lot of money (19) and am concerned about a large medical bill for nothing. The pain is not very much, but I am very concerned about what I may have done after reading science articles regarding esophageal perforation.
