I am a mum of a son with RP. It is really difficult I know and I felt there was no information for me or anyone to help us come to terms with this. There is no generaly available treatment yet but there is huge amounts of research being done with promising areas of results . These are in area of implants and the use of stem cells. This disease progresses slowly in most cases so nothing should happen too quickly. There are other problems which occur i.e. cataracts are common. Just help your daughter to cope with whats happening and keep hoping for and supporting a breakthrough, remember she has time.
I am a third year medical student. I am sorry to say that little can be done. In case where retina gets detached, it can be attached back. You can also give good Vit A supply to your child. Best will be to get it operated.
Unfortunately till today, there is no established treatment for retinitis pigmentosa.
