Is There Permanent Cure For Icthyosis Vulgaris?

Is there a permanent cure for Icthyosis vulgaris? I'm 17 now, and I've had this since as far as I can remember. My skin gets flaky, it's worst on my legs. I have flaky, scaly, dry skin on my legs and sometimes on other parts of my body. It subsides for a bit after putting creams on. But it keeps coming back. It's really killing my confidance, and I hate wearing shorts etc. It gets worse it the cold aswell. I am so embarassed to have my legs out in public, sometimes I wish I was more normal. I also have A LOT of lines of my palms, substantially more than 'normal'. And they are dry and 'manly', even though I'm a girl. My big sister has the same, and I think my dad and grandma had it too. But not as bad as mine. Is there a permanent cure for this? I am tired of putting creams on day after day. Can surgery cure this? What do I do?
