Should We Continue Using A Condom While Trying To Conceive Despite My History Of Genital Herpes?

My wife and I(both 31) are trying to conceive. When we have sex, I use a condom because I have type 1 genital herpes. However, I haven t had an outbreak in over a decade, and I only really had one outbreak to begin with. We try to poke holes in the condom and do other random things to try to get the semen into her properly. We are wondering if we should still use the condom or if there is something else we could do? I could also take herpes supressive medication to further reduce the likelihood of spreading herpes. I have also heard and researched about topical coconut oil being something that can reduce the likelihood of spreading the virus. Any ideas, suggestions, or general advice?
