Periods Lasting More Than Usual. Should Be Concerned ?
I am 45 years old and have had my period for the last 17 days. This is abnormal for me. My period is normally only 5-7 days. Should I be concerned? I have not felt well either. I have had a fever a few of the days and some stomach discomfort. I am supposed to go for an ultrasound but the appointment isn't for a month, so I am not sure that I should wait before I see a doctor again.
Thanks for posting your query. Any bleeding more than 7 days is abnormal. You will need an ultrasound and pap smear if due for it. Also you will need endometrial testing liek biopsy, hysteroscopy etc to know the reason. If its something treatable like polyp, it can be done at the same time of hysteroscopy. If no reason is found and biopsy is normal, we can manage this with medications. Hope this helps, take care!
