Prolonged Periods, Light Bleeding. Taken Contraceptive Injection. How To Stop Bleeding?

hi ive been on my period for just under 3 weeks, the bleeding is getting lighter now ,but ,it hasnt stop. i have decided to go to my gp tomorrow ,but is this something i should be worried about ?i had the contraceptive injection could it be due to that ? if they are going to give me something to stop the bleeding how long will it take to work?
