Should I Have D And C For Thick Uterine Lining?

I had postmenopausal bleeding last April. I went to the ob/gyn and he did an ultrasound and said the lining of my uterus was thickening. He wanted to do a hysterectomy. I work in an oncology dept and I asked the Gyn/onc doc and she suggested a D&C and if that was ok put in a mirena IUD. When I told my Ob/gyn he said the D& C was not necessary and just did a biopsy and put the IUD in. He said the path showed simple hyperplasia and also the lining of the uterus was thicker than the first time he checked it (about 3 months prior). That was last Oct and I am bleeding again, not heavy. I wrote to him and asked what to do and he said since I wasn't bleeding constantly to leave the IUD in and do nothing. I also asked the Gyn/Onc and she said a D&C would be in order. What should I do? should I get a new OB or get a referral to the Gyn/Onc? Thanks.

HI, thanks for using healthcare magic

You may want to consider a second opinion. This can either be with a new gynaecologist or to the clinic. It would depend on where you feel more comfortable.

In light of the continued bleeding , a D & C may give a more definitive answer.

I hope this helps
