Should I Have Surgery For Holes In Eardrums?

Hi, I found out that I have a hole in both eardrums, I had tubes put in my ears around 3rd/4th grade. I recently had an ear infection about a month ago and that is when the dr. told me I had holes in my ear. With the ear infection at the time, I had a hard time hearing, but now since the infection is gone, my hearing is fine. So, my question is: Is it still necessary for me to have surgery even though I can hear good now...thanks
