Should I Resume Birth Control Medication To Regulate Menstruation?

i am a 19 year old female, and i have had problems with my menstral cycle since i first had it when i was twelve. When i was sixteen the doctor put me on birth control to regulate it. But in the last maybe 9 months i have had problems with it again, but i do not have insurance to see my doctor. I had gotten a period in june but not in July and then i spotted for 4 days in august. then nothing again until october when i spotted for 2 days, and i mean barely anything at all spotted, and at that time it was two weeks before i was due for my period and i decided to stop taking my birth control then. I was on the pill. since then i have not had anything at all, and im concerned something is wrong.
