Should I See A Knee Specialist For Popping And Locking Sensation In The Knees?
Hi, so about 9 years ago I suffered from a torn acl. I recover and a specialist said my knee is all better. In the last two months I have noticed it popping, locking and giving out more in my day to day activities. As well I have noticed that is bruises much easier and more serverly then the rest of my body. I want to know if this is just my injured leg is tired and body’s response to getting older or if I should be trying to get an appointment with a knee specialist as something has changed in the condition of my knee.
Your symptoms may be due to ACL and meniscus tears. Popping is due to knee instability which happened due to ACL tear and locking is due to meniscus tear. I would suggest to repeat MRI of the involved knee to check the status of ACL and meniscus tears.
Meanwhile apply long knee extension brace to stabilize knee. Visit to arthroscopic surgeon for detailed assessment is recommended.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Regards,
Dr. Jayesh Vaza, Orthopaedic Surgeon
