Should The Knee Be Punctured To Drain The Fluid?

Dear Sir,

My husband sprained his knee 2 months back while jogging on the tread mill.Initially didnt feel the pain much but after a week the knee got swollen & painfull that he could not work . We took an MRI ogf the knee. As per doctor there is no ligament injury but the soft tissues damaged & water retention .On medication of Enzyflam, the swelling goes down , but after medication is stopped , the swelling comes back again. The doctor says we will have to puncture the water out now & see. please advise why the swelling comes back again & again. If we do have to puncture the knee water , is it that it will come back again .
