Suffered Typhoid, Diet, Avoiding Foods, Duration For Precautions
Hi,Iam pradeep,i am suffered from typoid last week and now i am ok after the treatment given in hospital and i have some questions they are what kind of diet should typhoid patients follow? how many months does the diet continues? what are the avoidable food products? does typoid can occur for two or three years? can we take biscuits?
Patients suffering from Typhoid should take bland home cooked meals, avoid fried and spicy food. Mostly recuperation takes about 6 weeks to 8 weeks so should follow this diet for about 2 months. If not treated completely with sensitive antibiotics carrier state may result and you may contniue to harbour the bacteria for 2-3 years. Biscuits are fine.
It is heartening to know that you are well and back from hospital.
With better antibiotics available these days normal diet is given as early as possible. However, it is advised to have a soft diet in the first week as ulcers may be present in the intestines. If the bowel movements are fine and stools are normal in colour then there is no restriction in the diet.
Typhoid can recur for a number of reasons. The important among them being the immune status of the person and the bacterial load. Different strains may also cause a recurrence.
Yes, you can have biscuits.
With best wishes,
