i am 40 yrs old i have bulimia for the past 15 years on and off- my throat is scratchy now but i have no acid reflux - i swollow fine and by digestion is fine - what damage could i might have done to ause this scratchy throat - again no pain reness or swelling - as of now my bulimia is about once every 1 - 2 weeks if that now.
Bulimia is one of common eating disorder. Due to repeated self induced vomiting patients suffering from bulimia suffer damage to mucosa of throat and mouth. Some times it results in chronic persistent injury. The complaints of scratchy throat you are having are probably due to repetitive acid reflux. Try to avoid fried food, spicy foods for some time. Avoid self induction of vomiting, this will help in healing of wound. If you are not able to control the impulses of vomiting then consult your psychiatrist. Medicines like Fluoxetine which is a SSRI help to reduce the abnormal impulses and result in improvement of symptoms of bulimia. Visit a psychiatrist for prescription and try to maintain your weight by eating healthy food and exercise.
Thanks, Hope this helps you. Take care
