Hello, I just had a Peritonsillar abscess drained and treated yesterday at the hospital. I feel much better and I know longer have fevers. They gave me the antibiotic Clindamycin as well. What concerns me is the ear ache that I had on the side that was infected came back today and I wanted to know if that was normal. I forgot to ask them any thing about the causes and reasons for the earache in association with this affliction. I forgot to ask the Medical staff if it is normal to come back. THANKS
I read carefully your query and understand your concern.
The earache can be related to an ear infection. It can also be related to the peritonsillar abscess. I suggest to continue the cycle of antibiotics as prescribed by your doctor. I also suggest using an anti inflammatory medications such as Acetaminophen to relieve the inflammation and pain. I also recommend using antibiotic eardrop for local application.
Hope my answer was helpful.
