Suggest Remedy For Pain And Swelling In Neck

My son was on a trampoline last week, and complained of neck pain a week ago. Just yesterday, we noticed swelling in the back of his neck, and he had limited movement...particularly unable to tilt his head upward. We took him to get an xray and the bones in the spine seem fine, but his spine is curved in the wrong direction...it is in a C shape....cervical kyphosis. They are suggesting that we get an MRI. There is nothing neurological, and there are no other simptioms (no fever, dizziness). What is the scope of they types of ligament or soft tissue injury and what can be done?
