Suggest Treatment For Achilles Tendonitis

Hello, I am a 40 year old female, 5'5" and weighing 225. I was diagnosed with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis 19 years ago, and now am hypothyroid taking 88mcg Synthroid and 25mcg Cytomel daily. I was diagnosed with Idiopathic Intracranial Hypertension 10 years ago and currently have no symptoms and take no medication for it. One year ago, I was diagnosed with Celiac Disease.

My current problem is... I am in management in a retail store. Sometimes I am called upon to work on the sales floor and after doing so noticed during a busy time in April, noticed that I had foot and Achilles pain. In mid-May, I realized I had a lump on the back of my Achilles. There was pain in the morning and after I sat down. I took photos for my doctor and showed him what they looked like first thing in the morning and after moving around for a while. He diagnosed me with Achilles tendonitis. That has been 4 weeks ago. He prescribed Naproxen 2x per day but nothing more. I am in as much pain, if not more, than I was before. While I have made another appointment, it isn't until next week. What should I expect to hear from him and what should I do in the meantime? I have a fear of it tearing or rupturing between now and then. Not that it will, but I just worry about it. Also, will a cortizone shot increase the risk of it tearing? Thank you,
