Suggest Treatment For Acne Problems

Hi... I`ve been taking Trimethoprim for 15 days (200 mg x 2 daily) for acne, as suggested by my dermatologist. But in the 15 days the acne has got alot worse on my chest and stomach. I have got a big burnt red rash that goes from the upper part of my chest to my upper part of my stomach, the rash I never had before taken Trimethoprim. It really is starting to worry me how unsightly it`s getting, but my next appointment with my dermatologist is not for 3 months. So what should I do, carry on hoping the acne and the rash get better till I attend my next appointment or stop taking them? I have thought about going to my Doctor to ask for advice, but if he says stop taking them and I go back to my dermatologist in 3 months telling him I stopped on the advice of a doctor who isn`t a skin specialist he might not be best pleased. Any advice would be help-ful.. Thanks in advance..
