My daughter is 3yr old. she got her first febrile convulsion @ 1.5yrs of age followed by myoclonic seziure after 10 days. Her EEG has been abnormal since then. The episode has repeated on 1 Feb 10 again , just before she turned 3. Doctors suggest medicines, dont know how to go about it.

Pediatrician 's  Response
Hi,

If there was seizure apart from fever, this can not be taken as febrile seizure, and given the abnormality in EEG, we need to continue anti-seizure drugs. Depending on the level of control, we may be able to taper and stop it after 2-3 years, but keep following up with your doctor until then.

Take care. Hope I have answered your question. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Muhammed Aslam T. K., Pediatrician
