Suggest Treatment For Itching Sensation And Discoloration On The Thumb

I got a sting on my thumb while in the garden and there appears to be bruising/discoloration associated with the sting on the top half of my left thumb. is this something that needs medical attention or will it go away on its own? There is a moderate amount of swelling/heat. When it first happened it was very itchy and kind of numb but now it just kind of burns. I have applied a poultice of baking soda and that seems to help.

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Since you are having itching, you can apply Hydrocortisone ointment locally in the area affected.

Apply Thrombophob ointment on the thumb to get rid of discoloration. Yes, you can apply baking soda if it is helping you.

Take non-sedating antihistamines, Levocetrizine once daily for 3-5 days. However, you are suggested to visit a GP & get clinically assessed.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Take care

Regards,
