Orthopaedic Surgeon 's  Response
Hi I am Dr Gopal Goel Orthopedic Surgeon.
In my opinion , if you have thinner legs now then it would be a case of radiculopathy.
I suggest you get an MRI lower spine and one NCV Test to assess the nerve root affected.
Treatment would depend on the cause and may involve surgery also.
Diabetes alone can also cause peripheral neuropathy leading to weakness in leg - these tests a I advised earlier may help in arriving at a diagnosis.
