Suggest Treatment For Pain And Numbness Of Feet

Hi I am a 56 year old male who after an accident under went a spinal fusion from L2 to the sacrum, this operation has been repeated three times since November 2007 as four screws pulled out or became loose at L2 and the sacrum.I was dropped by the physio the morning after the first operation as i blacked out due to lose of blood during surgery (3 liters) but it is not known why there was a failure after the second surgery however the third surgery was performed in august 2009.My current status is i have continuing pain, numbness, sensation of electric shocks from my feet, can only stand for short periods and after being on my feet or even sitting i require bed rest as it seems the only way to settle the pain around the mid section and up my back.I am being told i have to return to work but can not understand how that will be possible,i have tried drugs to control the pain but had terrible side effects so i have elected to manage the pain myself by eliminating the activities that produce it.I do not want to under go any more surgery but cant help wondering what else i can try.Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Regards Bill Hunter
