Dear
Thank you for asking
There are main 3 structures in your neck that may be the cause of your
sore throat : ( tonsils , pharynx and larynx ) , each one of them can be inflamed giving (
tonsillitis ,
pharyngitis and
laryngitis ) , but the clinical pictures differ :
1- tonsillitis : fever , dysphagia ( pain during swallowing ) and usually be at the sides of your neck , enlarged lymph nodes that can be felt by your hands from the outer side of your jaws just beneath your jaw angels .
1- pharyngitis : the same but the dysphagia is in the middle of your neck with a possibility to lymph nodes enlargement less than tonsillitis .
3- laryngitis : fever , pain during speaking with
hoarseness of voice .
Treatment :
each one of them may be due gram +ve bacteria or gram -ve one , that will be diagnosed by your doctor .
if gram +ve , you should take
Augmentin 1 gm tab / 12 hours
if gram -ve , you should take Cefteriaxone 1 gm amp / 12-24 hours
and both are combined with :
Paracetamol 500 / 8 hours , and H2O2 gargle / 12 hours , antihistamine like ( zertec ) / 24 hours ... and increase the intake of hot drinks .
