Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
What Can Cause Sharp Pain In The Rectum And Groin Area?
So I started getting a sharp pain in my rectum/groin area this morning. It intensifies with every movement and it basically feels like a really bad, intensified cramp. I tried laying down but it still didn’t help. I don’t know what this could be and if I should go to the hospital for it. If I touch around the area, it also intensifies. Every few minutes tho, it dies down and I think it’s gone until I try to get up.
The pain is most often constant or rhythmic and may be likened to sitting on a ball or feeling like a ball was inside the rectum. Pain may be caused by defecation, sexual intercourse, sitting for long periods, and stress or anxiety.
The pain is probably due to spasm of the pelvic floor muscles. It may be proctalgia fugax or hemorrhods or fissure or fistula etc.
Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is. use pain killer medication like buscopan twice a day for five days. please consult your doctor he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
Take care
Regards,
