What Causes A Bony Bump On The Toe Joint In Feet?

Hi, I am 54 female type 2 diabetic , I have been on insulin for 1 yr but trying to get off by taking pills instead just started that this week ,my doctor seems to thing it may help in weight loss ,but anyway My big toe has been numb for 2 months the dr said it is neuapathy?? tingling also but now the part where the toe connects to the foot ,on the side there is a bump I have always had a little bone or something on both feet that sticks out there but this is really big just on that foot and it is also numb and tender should I be worried ,can this wait till MOnday to see my dr??
