What Causes Abdominal Pain Upon Pressure?

I have a moderate pain, probably a 4 or 5 on a scale from 1-10, directly above my naval. When pressure is applied to the area, I can sometimes feel a burning type pain below my naval. I visited a local clinic a week or so ago with these symptoms and they simply said they could find no abnormalities and after the pain subsided they sent me home. The pain is back and is more common now.

Internal Medicine Specialist 's  Response
Hello,

Pain around the umbilicus on pressure may be due to small bowel infection or umbilical adenoma or infection or rectus abdominus muscle spasm etc.

Until examination is done it is difficult to say what it is.

Don't worry, avoid spicy food and alcohol. If you're doing exercises regularly means then take a break.

Use smooth muscle relaxants. If symptoms not improved please consult your physician he will examine and treat you accordingly.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
