What Causes Abnormal Bowel Movements?

I am a 49 year old woman, and I have stopped my period. Now I have abnormal bowel movements, and my stomach is swollen. I can feel something moving in my stomach,but I had my tubes tided. I was wondering if this is something I should be concerned about,or if this is normal while going through menopause.
