I am 18 yrs old, and I have recently started laying in tanning bed so I can try to get a base tan for my senior prom. I have layed in a tanning bed before and layed out in the sun-as well as other members of my family such as my mom-and none of us have ever had any issues before. I only lay out in the sun during summer months and only lay in the tanning bed for about 2 months at a time for the past 2or 3 years. however I woke up this morning and I discovered a black scab on my right cheek that looked like a mole. It was solid black-one color, not blotchy- yet I was able to scrap it right off very easily just running my finger across it. The black skin of the scab flaked off easily without bleeding; there was just a small red spot left, like the skin looks after you rub the top layer of a pimple off. My mom is a nurse and I showed her the flaked skin, told her what the scab had looked like, and showed her the remaining spot on my cheek and she said any cancerous mole or skinmark would most likely bleed if taken off or be a mole instead of a removable scab. but I was just wanting to know if this sounds like it could be cancerous at all or if I should get it checked out, or if it is nothing to worry over and I should just leave it alone unless I have any other issues.
