Hi,I am Dr. Shanthi.E (General & Family Physician). I will be looking into your question and guiding you through the process. Please write your question below.
For the last five days I have been taking levaquin 500 mg one time a day prescribed by a doctor for a sinus infection. The last two days i have really bad pain in every movable part of my body. I am a 67year old female with no diagnosed arthritis. What do you think?
Dear Ma'am, Hi I can understand your concern for the safety of Levaquin. It seems to be due to side effect of Levaquin.
Used as an antibiotic to treat bacterial infection Levaquin (Levofloxacin), although less common but it can cause serious side effects like tendonitis and even rupture of tendons resulting in sudden pain, snapping or popping sound, swelling, tenderness, stiffness, or loss of movement in any of your joints. You are advised to consult your treating doctor to use and alternate but a safer antibiotic to treat the infection you are suffering from. Hope this answers your query. A feed back is appreciated.
