What Causes Cramping Pain In The Toes After Taking Lyrica?

I have problems with my toes turning under, muscle spasms I guess. What can I do other than eat bananas that I can t seem to keep from going bad on me? Will potassium have ill effects on Lyrica or any medication I m taking for COPD? I have low blood pressure (not abnormal, just low).

General & Family Physician 's  Response
Hello,

Lyrica is Pregabalin, the side effects are joint pain, muscle pain, pain in the toes, back pain. Left untreated it may result in co-ordination problems, shivering, tremor, etc. As such potassium does not interact with Lyrica but you should not take it without a doctors prescription. While taking Lyrica do not take alcohol. Alcohol can increase the nervous system side effects of Pregabalin like drowsiness or dizziness. Avoid heavy work, driving or machinery work. Never take more than the prescribed dose of Pregabalin. For relieve from cramping take acetaminophen(Tylenol) one SOS when required.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Nupur K, General & Family Physician
