A few weeks ago, I was on a plane. When we started up and my ears started to pop then all of a sudden my heart began to beat very quickly and loudly in my ears. I started to become short of breath, got dizzy, sweaty and had jerky vision. It was so bad that I almost told the flight attendant that I needed medical attention. I talked myself out of it and after aprox 5 minutes, the symptoms stopped. I do not have a fear of flying and was enjoying myself. The same thing happened on the return flight home. I just played it off as a flying thing.
Since then I was driving to the mountains and when it seemed that my ears was about to pop, I started getting all of the above symptoms again. I could not see to drive and had to pull over. I waited aprox 5 min. but the systems did not seem to get any better. I proceeded to drive to the next rest area (which was extremely difficult) and the symptoms started to lessen and eventually stopped.
I have been on many flights before and have never had trouble of any kind except of course the ears popping which I know is normal. I did suffer a pulmonary embolism as a result of gall bladder surgery. Since then I have gotten a vena cava filter and have not had any more difficulty. Since the same things happened to me on the ground that it did in the air, I have become very concerned. I do have a Dr. appointment in about 3 weeks. I would like to know what think.
