Dear Doctor, I just want an advise. My Dad is 89 years old. Very active... but recently his heart rate (at rest) goes sometime to 160 for no reason. He has been given medecin to lower it and injection every day... Is it dangerous to have such a high rate ? Rgds Vincent Catry
Actually the underlying cause of tachycardia matters the great, if this is due sinus rhythm then it is nothing to worry, but it does not seems like that because you stated that he is being treated for that (Tachycardia= increased heart rate ) then it could be matter of concern or worry, condition need to be ruled out for cardiac artery disease.
Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.
