What Causes Feeling Of Something Stuck In Throat?

i feel like something stuck in my throught as sputum and some time i feel its tense mucsle causing me to grasp more air to my stomach and its really bothering me alot ,,,,i feel like if i didnt do this i might suffocate ,,,really would like to know the cause and how to stop it immediately ??? please
