What Causes Fluctuating Body Temperature During Menopause?

Good Evening, I have recently started a new job in August as a medical social worker ( Health Homes care coordinator). Since I started my job in August of this year, I have noticed dramatic changes in my body as I am going through menopause ( I am 52 yrs old). I also have ADD and have my medications increased for that. My concern is I am having a hard time (take my meds every day) concentrating on my tasks such as learning a new and difficult electronic health record system. I can t comprehend anything written either by agency or on computer. It seems like my brain is in a fog. I have to have things explained to me 3 or 4 times. I also notice that my emotions are raw, I get frustrated and teary eyed very easily and have never been like this before. Is this something that could be ADD related or menopausal. I am also very cold and hot and cannot get my body temperature to regulate. It fluxates every day at different times... I can go an hour with being freezing cold and then it will change to me being very warm, hot and sweaty. I have recently been on weight watchers for 2 weeks now. I weigh 134 lbs and my average typical weight is 120 lbs. I have no idea what is going on with my body and it s like it is going haywire. I haven t had a menstrual cycle since July of this year. Any advice you could tell me or suggest? Thank you. Lisa

Hi there, I have understood your concern and I will suggest you the best possible treatment options.

First of all do not panic.

All the symptoms are well known as post menopausal symptoms.
Medically, these are known as vasomotor symptoms.

I will suggest you to opt a healthy lifestyle and regular exercise regimen.
Include more portions of fruits and vegetables and salads in daily diet.
Avoid refined sugars and deep fried foods and bakery products in the diet.
Drink plenty of water in the day.
Please seek prescription support from your treating doctor for multi vitamins and multi minerals supplements and phytoestrogens.
Meditate regularly.
Think positive.
Things will be fine in the due course of time.

I hope this answer helps you.
Thanks.
