What Causes Frequent Cluster Of Painful Bumps Around Finger Joints?

I have bumps on my fingers; mostly around my joints. Some are raise and some are actually below the skin. When I have opened up a few (bumps), there isn't any fluid, just a red dot beneath the skin. They start out as one or two then form some sort of cluster and are quite painful. Within the past year, I have noticed that my finger joints are beginning to hurt more and more especially with the cold weather. I have an appointment with an arthritis specialist next week. There has been some curvature in a few of my fingers as well. When I consulted a dermatologist in regards to the bumps on my fingers, she advised that it was a type of exzema. If you rub over the bumps, they sting along with my joints.
