For many years I have been diagnosed borderline diabetic because my gloucose levels and triglyserides have run a bit high. Allthough recently they jumped up. I did have a change in blood pressure pills and have been fighting a chest cold for over 3 weeks and am wondering if that could effect these numbers. It was just a very quick change. My glucose ran from 95 to 110 being the highest. This jumped to 144. Try ran from 169 to 228 at the highest jumped to 272. Blood pressure pills were BENAZEPRIL-HYDROCHLOROTHIAZIDE 20-12.5 MG my Dr doubled the Hydro part to 25mg.
Hello, Although HYDROCHLORTHIAZIDE can cause blood sugar levels to become high but this in itself should not be the only reason for precipitation of your frank diabetes, For this other reasons like obesity, faulty dietary habits, sedentary habits etc are more responsible for progression from Pre diabetes to frank diabetic stage. Stop HCTZ Take proper medications. Do regular aerobic exercises for 45 minutes a day. Observe proper dietary control by avoiding sweets, deep fried foods, alcohol, junk foods, colas etc. Thanks
