What Causes Long Lasting Sore On Lip?

i have a sore on my lip that wont go away it has been there for 3 months to nearly 4 months. i have tryed cold sore cream and a few other creams from the chemist but its not going away it has moved doen my face a tiny bit. and were it started has left a faint brwon mark what could it be or have?
