What Causes Pain And Swelling Above The Ankle?

I have been having some pain and swelling in my left leg just above the ankle. If I ware normal socks, there is a big indented place where the socks were. There is some discoloration. Now, I have noticed an indented place on the front left side of my calf. Any ideas? I'm 60, 215 lbs. and have no medical history on heart problems, diabetics, etc.
