What Causes Pain And Swelling In The Thenar Area?

I am a 5'3", 115lb, almost 26yr old female and mother of 3 children. Jan 2010 I started having symptoms in my hands where they would fatigue almost like maxing out on weights while doing simple daily tasks ( wiping counters, tying shoes, ect.) The swelling in in the thenar area along with the thumb side of my wrist a huge bump forms. Pain is constant and extremly debilitiating. My grip strength is less than half of what is should be according to my occupational therapist and there is extreme swelling in the muscle tissue of my upperback and forearms. I even had to quit my job outside of the home. Along with that all my veins will pop out almost like the Hulk from my elbows to throughout my fingers. From there the docs found I had hypothyroidism which is being managed. I went to a hand specialist and had an X-rays, and EMG, and bone scan. From there I was referred to a rheumatologist because all things came back normal. I went to a local rheumatologist whom treated and diagnosed me with reynauds and ended up having a grand mal seizure Nov 2010 due to toxic levels of medications they had me taking. During this time I had a vascular flow study that came back normal as well. From there I went to UofM rheumatology and they verified that I do NOT have reynauds and after a multitude of blood work and ultrasound on my hands nothing came up. I did have a food sensitivity test done with quite a few major allergies such as gluten, dairy, yeast, and eggs for starters. I recently forced the hand of my family practitioner to do an MRI , I wanted one of my cervial and thoracic spine but we only got the cervical done. It came back with a protrusion and torn ligament at C4-5. I don't think this would explain all my symptoms but would like to know what to expect for treatment of the neck issue and how another professional feels about furthering the MRI to thoracic, brain ( for MS) and the hands themselves. I am completely miserable and all I want is my life back and am looking for some help and direction to getting there.
