What Causes Pain In Arm After An Elbow Injury?

I hit my elbow on the door jam last week. It brought me to tears when it happened. However, the pain didn't last too long and I have complete movement and motion now without pain. There are no bruises that I can see (which I thought was pretty weird since I tend to bruise VERY easily). I wouldn't be worried about it at all now except that if I put any sort of pressure on it (and I do it often; on a table, turning over in bed, etc) I get a sheering pain up my arm and I can feel something grinding. I am pretty sure I cracked a bone in there and am not sure if there is really anything I can do, or rather should do about it. Since it really doesn't hurt other than when I accidentally lean on it, I don't think it's something super serious, however I am concerned that I should take care of it sooner than later to avoid long term problems.
