What Causes Pain In The Gums?

I have had a pain in the gum area above a tooth where I had a crown put on two months ago. Three days ago is when it started and my dentist x-rayd it that afternoon and it shows no infection. it is still bothering me an now causing the area below my cheek and over to my ear to bother me. Do I go to the dentist again or my medical Dr?

Dentist 's  Response
Hi..
Thanks for the query..

Your problem is related to Dentist only and on case if the tooth is not infected then pain in gum can be due to impinging of crown over the gums..

It can also be due to food accumulation between the gum and crown.

I would suggest you to consult any other Dentist and get evaluated so that he can clean the area around the gums and advise you a script of antibiotics like Metronidazole and anti inflammatory painkillers like Ibuprofen..
Do warm saline gargle..

In case if it still does not resolve then crown removal can be done..

Hope this helps..

Regards..
