What Causes Peeling Of Skin In The Vagina?

A year or so I go, I got my first yeast infection. I took the monistat home treatment and it went away, and shortly after that, I noticed that when I went to the restroom, I noticed white balls of what looked like toilet paper all balled up, but I came to find out that it was the skin of the my labia minora peeling off. I was sexually active at the time, but the guy I was active with was a virgin, so STD's are out of the question. Anyways, I broke it off with the guy and it went away after awhile, then about a month ago, I got another yeast infection and the same thing happened again. I'm sexually active again, and I have a pap smear this Thursday, and I'm just nervous and want to know what to expect when I go in. Is this normal?
