What Causes Persistent Intense Pain In Right Foot Long After A Injury?

Continued right foot problem - pain on ball of foot and shooting or throbbing if on feet for awhile. Also at night can spasm or shoot pain. Had x-ray and stretching done, injection, and in walking cast a few weeks. Still feel pain and noticed it even when cast was on. No true diagnosis, but may seek a second opinion at foot specialist. Was seeing orthopedic doctor. Did have a small fracture in this same foot about 3 years ago and did eventually heal, but still felt some pain. Not sure if related. I guess x-ray did not show much and metal in me so no MRI can be done. Any ideas?

Hi Dear,

Welcome to HCM.

Understanding your concern. As per your query you have persistent intense pain in right foot long after a injury . Well the symptoms you mention in query can occur due to may reasons like achilles tendinitis , bone spurs , bunions , bursitis , corns and calluses , diabetic neuropathy , gout or plantar fasciitis . But in your case it seems to me that the symptoms are due to hematoma or fracture due to injury . I would suggest you to consult podiatrist for proper diagnosis and treatment . Podiatrist may recommend supportive footwear such as sneakers , arch supports , metatarsal pads , shock absorbing shoe insoles and inserts and orthotics . Doctor may also refer you to orthopedic surgeon for plaster or surgery . For now give proper rest to your feet and put your feet in hot water tub with one spoon of salt daily at least for 15 minutes .

Hope your concern has been resolved.

Best Wishes,
