What Causes Pregnancy Despite Taking An Emergency Contraceptive Pill?
I had unprotected sex on the 1st of august around 12:30am and purchase a emergency contraception on the 2nd of august at 2pm then on the 12th august I had my menstrual for 5days ending on the 17th august now i was expecting for my period to come around the 9th of September according to my monthly cycle app but it hasn t come. it been a week I bought 3x pregnancy test and all came back positive. So my concern is did the emergency contraception work or not an if it didn t, how would the emergency contraception affect the Feoteus ? If not could I have been pregnant for almost 7weeks or has it only been 5 weeks ?
Hello and Welcome to ‘Ask A Doctor’ service. I have reviewed your query and here is my advice.
Since the urine pregnancy test has come positive, it would be advisable for you to undergo ultrasound scan as well as check your beta-hCG levels in blood. Kindly consult Obstetrician with the report for clinical evaluation and appropriate management.
Hope the information provided helps. All the best.
Regards,
Dr. Ashakiran. S.
