What Causes Problem In Balancing?

My mother, who will turn 80 this month, has been having problems with her balance for the past few years. Some days it is worse than others. It doesn't keep her bedridden, but she has to hold on to things to get around the house. When this started, we thought it might have something to do with her inner ear but, after having her examined by an ear doctor, found there was nothing wrong. Approximately 1 1/2 years ago her physician sent her to a neurologist who also found nothing to determine why her balance is off. He did, however, inform us that she had had some mini strokes which could have affected the part of her brain that controls her balance. She has rheumatoid arthritis and gets IV treatments of Remacade every 8 weeks, plus she is on numerous other medications, as follows: Prilosec (1 per day), Paroxetine HCL, 40 MG (1 daily); Moexipril HCL, 15 MG, (1 daily); Celebres, 200 MG, (1 daily); Prednisone, 2 tabs daily; Requip for RLS (1 to 2 each evening), and a couple of others. Nobody seems to be able to pinpoint why she is so off balance. I'm wondering if it could be all the medications she is on, or if there is something else we need to have her doctors look at. Any advice you can give is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
