Dear Doctors,
In the last four days, a thickened, reddened spot has grown on my upper lip.
It's homogenous in both colour and surface, only slightly redder than skin surrounding it, although it has a distinct red edge and is nearly perfectly round.
I have no sensation whatsoever on that spot, it feels like it's locally anaesthetized, and is also reminiscent of a mild burn (though that isn't the case).
Very rarely it kind of unpleasantly tingles accompanied by extremely little to no pain.
I also experienced some peeling in the first few days, but by now I've managed to get rid of that by applying calendula cream, though it seems to be returning after a few hours of not using the cream.
I've made an appointment with a dermatologist next week (couldn't find anyone on shorter notice), but my family and I are pretty stressed out that it might be lip cancer.
Does lip cancer explain the symptoms? I've been in the sun for a significant amount of time a couple of weeks ago.
In case it is indeed lip cancer, how alarmed should I be? Should I request immediate biopsy from my dermatologist?
