What Causes Runny Nose After Removal Of Tonsils And Adenoids?
My son had his tonsils and adenoids removed two days ago and now has a cold with thick snot coming out his nose. Is this normal? He has been prescribed amoxicillin and is on nurofen and panadol alternating. Will the amoxi help get rid of the cold like symptoms or do we need to visit a doctor tomorrow?
Snoring, runny, or stuffy nose and bad breath can occur after surgery and last for about 2 weeks. This is normal and will resolve with the healing process. Normal saline nasal spray can be used. Occasionally, the child may have some changes in voice due to the removal of adenoid tissue. They sometimes sound more nasal. If he is experiencing fever, headache, bleeding from nose or oral cavity please consult your ENT specialist he will examine and treat you accordingly.
Hope I have answered your query.
